Summer League 2009 Team Info

Week 10

Postby Michael__Chen on Thu Jul 23, 2009 2:25 pm

Aqua was able to win both games this week securing a top four spot and a bye in playoffs.

Tate- Was not able to attend this week. Week 10 being Becca’s last week, Angela may be one tired girl if Tate doesn’t start showing up.

Dan- Was not able to attend this week. The field did see dimmer without his shorts.

Ryan- Ryan stayed home this week to concentrate on growing one of his toenails back, as an Actuary he is frustrated that he can only count 9.

Angela- Angela must be losing her way with the boys since she did not get tackled once this week. She did have some nice catches, cuts, and even a score.

Brady- While Brady made a few handler cuts and had some throws up field I would not say he handled on Wednesday, which means that he will have to unleash the skills next week.

Just a few pointers on handling for team Aqua
1) The hammer is always a good idea
2) Don’t worry about throwing it away, you will never have as many turnovers as Brophy and they let him be a captain
3) You can’t overthrow Matt or Gerard
4) When in doubt see #1

Misra- Miz had some sweet D’s this week. My favorite Miz moment was when directly after getting a catch D he promptly threw it back to the other team, which gives support to the “conservation of greatness” theory that one should always dump the disk after they do something good. I was disappointed that someone on Lemon asked Miz to put the megaphone away. Of course with a bye in game 1 of the playoffs I’m sure we can find a team that will welcome/tolerate the noise.

Jon- Jon had some quality points for us, even though it seemed like we had to drag him kicking and screaming onto the field. To his defense with 3 guys named Jon/John on our team it can be confusing when lines are called.

Gerard- My favorite moment by far was when Gerard told us to be smart with the disk while on the line and then launches a bladey forehand huck after we have “smartly” worked the disk halfway down the field. I can only hope I see more throws like that this weekend when I play his team in the Iowa games.

Becca- I believe Becca had 12 or 13 of our points this week. This week was her last week with us, which leaves us looking for a new X factor. It has been fun to have someone of Becca’s athleticism and field awareness on our team.

Jim- Perhaps nobody will miss Becca more than Becca’s brother. However I believe this is a huge opportunity for Becca’s brother to step out of the shadow of his sister and stand in the light. It is your time now Jim.

Phillip- Phillip is fun to watch out there even though he has yet to show us the flips during a game. My favorite moment was when he got the D then turned and burned his guy deep. The best part of this is that he does it to an unsuspecting defender almost every week.

Matt- Matt as always played spectacularly. My favorite moment was his kick block and 1 yard cut for a score in game 2. The funniest moment was Becca beating him to the disk on a come to cut in the endzone. Matt has let me know that the small upside to me throwing away the disk is that I tend to play harder defense afterwards. I’m sure the man with the megaphone will point out that I would not have to play defense if I never turned over the disk. There are still some leftover drinks that Matt bought that will be in the cooler for next week.

Josh- Watching Josh in warm-ups he can throw the disk pretty far. While I love the fact that Josh values procession of the disk I still think I would like to see some of those long throws in the games. I may even try harder to get open deep if I were to know Josh was going to throw it.

Jeremy- Jeremy had some nice cuts and catches. Since Jeremy is faster than he looks he tends to get some pretty favorable match-ups. We may need to capitalize on this more without Becca.

Chops- Chop’s came up huge in game one with a superman style horizontal layout D on universe point to give us great field position for the winning score. Oh wait that was last week, I’m not sure Chops did much to write about this week. Chops, if only you were fat like Cody, hairy like Paul, or threw really bad like Brophy than I would have something to write here.

Paul- While always known as the hairy kid may be trying for the stinky kid title also by admitting he hasn’t showered since Saturday.
