Aqua won both games this week on Universe point at time cap against Black and Orchid. While the play could almost never be described as pretty the results were positive.
Tate- Was not able to attend this week.
Angela & Brady- Were not able to attend this week. All that talk of “handling” and “tackling” and our resident couple is strangely absent. Suspect, I tell you.
Misra- Was not able to attend this week. You would think that without the constant heckles of hammers through the megaphone that Aqua would have less turnovers. However that was not the case, without fear of being heckled by the megaphone I was a turnover machine. Just looking at my throws you would have thought Brophy was on our team.
Ryan- Blowing our statistics all to h*ll, we win both games this week when our actuary with one less toenail finally shows up. Unfortunately Ryan, I can only remember a spectacular drop in the endzone, when you had both hands on the disk in game one. Just so you know, I count that as a receiver turnover and it is not included in my personal turnover statistics.
Jon- One of the best D’s of the night in game 2. After Jon’s guy went deep Gerard helped cover for a few yards. When Jon had almost caught up to his guy and Gerard had dropped back off onto his own guy, Orchid threw up a deep huck to Jon’s guy. Jon never gave up, made up the distance, and swatted the disk hard into the ground.
Becca- Our X factor was back this week. Being the only girl she played a ton of points and always made good decisions with the disk.
Gerard- It is fun to watch Gerard jump. He is like a grasshopper able to get some serious air. It is funny to watch Gerard sky early for a disk and miss it when he is all alone and could have easily just run it down. At least it was funny for the sidelines, I’m sure everybody in on that marathon point silently cursed Gerard, same as they do everytime I touch the disk.
Jim- Jim this week showed us why he keeps the backhand under wraps in favor of the forehand. Forced backhand with Gerard all alone in the endzone, Jim threw a backhand that did not even get to an Asian’s knee high level before turfing Brophy style into the grass. Don’t take these comments too seriously since it is pretty much the pot calling the kettle black;)
Phillip- Either Phillip has great hands, a true love for his face, or a combination of both. Phillip made a sweet catch for a score when he had less than a second to react to a disk lasered at his head. Maybe we will unleash the flips next week against HLB.
Matt- Not only is Matt a great player; he is a great teammate who will be funding team adult beverages next week. Apparently the request has been no Miller products. I believe Natty Light is a Busch product, I guess we will just have to see what ends up in the cooler next week.
Dan- We need to get Dan out there for more points. Being the latest addition to the team and relatively new to ultimate he is learning all the time. By playoffs I am certain he will feel more comfortable out on the field.
Josh- Josh doesn’t even look like the same player he was a few weeks ago. I am really impressed with his guarding, cuts, and throws.
Jeremy- Jeremy made the winning grab for us in game 1. In game 2 he had a great Trent Troyer style distraction D of jumping early whiffing at the disk while also causing the intended receiver to jump early and miss. Best statement heard about Jeremy this week has to be “Jeremy is deceptively fast”. I believe that ranks right up there with “Are you sure Cody Johnson fits into a medium shirt?”
Chops- Secretly I was hoping Khoa on Black would sky Chops so I would have more great material on Chop’s inability to jump. Unfortunately that did not happen, what did happen is that Chop’s came up huge in game one with a superman style horizontal layout D on universe point to give us great field position for the winning score. Of course our superman in game 1 must have met some kryptonite in game 2 with a grotesque throw away for what would have been a game winner at time cap. The best part of this awful throw away was how quickly he started blaming the receiver for not cutting to the right spot. Can you tell Chop’s was on Brophy’s team last year?
If you are less hairy than Paul you should stop by after the games for a delicious beverage. Paul notice that statement is less hairy and not less than or equal to hairy, [spoil]you may have to perform “special” activities for your beverage.[/spoil]
