Week 3
Aqua was able to walk away with two wins against Gold and Black this week.
Aqua v Gold 8-6
Gold goes up early in this game 3-1. We end up chipping away at the lead and taking half. From there we maintain the differential until time cap.
Aqua v Black 9-4
Black was missing a few key players including their captain. Black’s Woodcock had a sweet layout grab for a score. This may not be that interesting to comment on if it were not for the fact he was dry heaving / wet heaving? in the weeds only moments earlier. I believe the elder Woodcock gives new meaning to puke and rally.
Jon- Not in attendance.
Josh- Not in attendance.
Gerard- Our captain was finally able to make week 3. Definitely a plus having Gerard there since he is crazy good (see week 2 hype), went over some team strategy, and had a clear plan on how he want the offense and defense to run. Perhaps the only moment not in his plan was his drop (can I call it a drop if he did not even try to catch it) after Miz received the pull. To Gerard’s credit he had named someone other than himself to be the first cutter and was not expecting the disk.
Becca- Was unable to attend. The real reason she did not attend was that she wanted her brother to have a chance to shine all by himself.
Jim- Becca’s brother had one of the nicest give and go cuts this week. It is always satisfying when you hear the defender audibly grunt about be out of position. Couple that with some nice throws and we had some fun moments to watch. (I guess Becca’s ruse worked)
Chuck- Chuck had some solid cuts for us. If he plays his cards right like Becca’s brother he may be known as Becca’s father.
Angela- Angela had several nice D’s this week. She did a great job defending people that have much more experience than her. She also does a great job of getting open in the endzone.
Brady- Brady had some solid catches and made good decisions out there this week. I love that Brady is athletic enough to guard even seasoned players.
Phillip- I believe Phillip may be one of the more underestimated players out there. 4 times I saw the other teams try to huck it deep to Phillip’s guy. Of those 4 hucks I saw 0 completions. As for the cleats at this point I think they might just hurt his game.
Jeremy- Jeremy had a solid night with at least one catch and throw for a score. His catch was especially difficult since the throw’s path was directly over his head. Paul Utesch must have joined us for a point to throw that one.
Chops- MVP, no doubt in my mind Chops was MVP in Game 1 and MVP in Game 2.

Unfortunately that would be MVP for Gold and then MVP for Black. I kid but uncharacteristically, Chops came up short on two D’s on two long hucks for scores by the opposing teams, where I felt Chops had position. Did I mention the first guy had gloves on?

The consummate smart player our sidelines were unable to heckle him into hucking 50/50s to Gerard.
Tate- As always our ladies did a stellar job. Tate did a great job of cutting underneath to help keep the disk alive. She also had some solid defense.
Matt- Matt was a force this week. Countless D’s including a footblock and quite a few nice catches for scores.
Miz- This Wednesday for Miz could be summed up into 2 words, Downwind O. Remember kids, Miz doesn’t fight you to be on the line for Downwind D so you don’t need to fight him for Downwind O. Stay tuned for next week as Miz contemplates bringing his megaphone to League. Next week I am picturing myself sitting on the sidelines enjoying a juicebox listening to the entertainment. (Of course if I sit out anymore points I could start to look like Cody)
Ryan- Was busy getting smarter and unable to attend. In hindsight this statement is just silly it’s like me saying Brophy was practicing making his throws more bladey.
