Week 2
We played Red and Evergreen this week. We had a tough loss against Red and a win against Evergreen.
Aqua vs Red 7-9
We go down early in this game 0-4. While we claw back within 1 and make the game respectable, ultimately Red takes the game. As a side note is it just me but does it seem like the most fitting phrase that the older Bouma brother with his sweet facial hair could ever say is “Hey kid, Do you want some candy?”
Aqua vs Evergreen 9-4
Playing Goodman is always fun. This game did not disappoint. The game was much closer than the score indicates with many a marathon point.
Gerard- Our captain was unable to make week 2. As a consequence he may have to play lights out in week 3 to live up to the hype I have been spreading.
Hype includes-
• He is taller than Chen
• Not as fat as Cody
• Throws flatter than Brophy
• Less hairy than Utesch
Chuck- Chuck had some solid minutes for us. Although looking at our roster it looks like we may still need the eldest Hurley to get officially signed up with league.
Jim- Becca’s brother had a great night. It is fun to watch the link ups between Becca and her brother.
Becca- Becca is an athlete. She has great hands and the ability to make great plays. It is fun watching her play especially when she out positions everybody including our own players for scores.
Angela- Our ladies are a true force on our team. Even though she is a relatively new player we got some real production out of Angela. I myself remember at least 3 catches for scores by her.
Brady- While there was no circus catch one handed grab from Brady this week we did see some solid cuts and play. Brady is a quick learner and by the end of season I am sure he will be comfortable with the disk. Already his throws are looking better than Brophy’s.
Phillip- Phillip had one of the best Ds of the night with a come out of nowhere swat. Still adamant about not wearing cleats perhaps we can convince him to don a pair before the summer is over.
Jeremy- Jeremy may get the teammate of the week award for throwing a disk right at my face during warm-ups (the worst part of this is I was not even warming up with him). One bloody nose and a few tears later I am just thankful it wasn’t more serious. [spoil](I believe table-topping Jeremy sometime in the upcoming weeks would be an appropriate response)[/spoil] Jeremy had a rough start missing a catch all alone for a score and getting footblocked by “molester stache” Bouma. He ended up alright though with at least one long catch for a score and a nice upwind put for a score.
Chops- Chops had some solid production for us with at least one layout D. Unfortunately he was unable to reel in a layout catch (might have been since he tried to go two handed pancake catch while in the air). I love Chop’s fearlessness about laying out, unfortunately since I weigh almost as much as Cody, gravity/the ground and myself are not friends.
John- John’s first week was this week. John had some solid defensive plays for us. He has a bit of speed, decent height, and a knack for knowing where the disk is.
Matt- Matt may warmup with the lightest disk I have ever thrown. Apparently it helps him get his throws right. When I threw his disk it pretty much looked like I just flopped a paper plate out of my hand.(Is this how it feels to be Brophy?) Matt’s warm-ups seemed to do the trick though since he is fun to watch on the field.
Miz- A definite difference can be seen when Miz shows up. Prior to him being there we were down 0-4 against Red. Even though we did not win once he arrived at least it was not a blowout. Miz may be the fastest guy on our team. While most fast guys use this skill to run down hucks or get sweet Ds, Miz uses his power to run and pick up the disk on a turn before anybody else. To be honest after the third time you get a little annoyed but after the sixth time you realize how really funny it is.
Ryan- Had the best throw while laying on the ground by an Actuary of the night.
