Hi everyone,
I am working for The Heart Connection Children's Cancer Programs for my internship this summer and am considering organizing a fundraising event for our programs. The Heart Connection's mission is to enhance the quality of life for children wtih cancer by providing programs for recreation, education, and family support. One of the main things we do is run two week-long camps every summer: one devoted to children who have been treated or diagnosed in Iowa, and the other devoted to their siblings. Both camps are provided at absolutely no cost to the families. During the year, we also host many family support groups and events including free or discount tickets to shows such as Sesame Street Live, I-Cubs games, and Disney on Ice.
In order to provide these FREE camps and low-cost events, we rely on the generous donations from individuals, companies, and money raised from other fundraising events.
I am looking into organizing an evening of non-competitive, laid-back Ultimate Frisbee on a Saturday night in September. If possible, it would be from about 5:00pm - 12:00 midnight, so we could play under the lights! As part of the registration cost, each participant would receive a comemorative disc and t-shirt, as well as food and (potentially) some alcoholic beverages. In order to keep it fun, relaxed, and open to as many people as possible, participants would be able to register with up to 4 other people. These groups would then be merged to form new teams for playing games in the evening. This would allow individuals who sign up on their own to be matched up with a team and meet new people to play our game with.
Because this is getting lengthy, I'll get to the point. Please answer the following survey question so I can decide whether to continue to pursue an evening of Ultimate to support children with cancer and their families!
